The best beer news in Warkworth since the arrival of Tahi Bar is the news that Soren and Monique Eriksen from 8 Wired Brewing have decided to set up the Brewery here in Warkworth. Previously brewing at Rennaisance in Marlborough and Steam in Auckland, the Eriksens have moved into the area and with a young family are loving the playgrounds and the beaches.
At Tahi we have never made a secret of the fact that 8 Wired is one of our favourite breweries so we are stoked to see them set up here and you can look forward to three or four taps of 8 Wired at Tahi on a regular basis....

Kowhai Festival 2014
So another Kowhai Festival has been and gone and we think this was one of the best yet. Great idea from the organisers to put the stalls in the middle of the street thus allowing local shops to be more involved. Kowhai to us is a busy day but there is one thing we all look forward to and that is some great food especially Jamaican Me Hungry and Uncle Larry's Jerk Chicken and Curried Goat...didn't disappoint yet again. The music for the day was truely outstanding. The Dobros were like the soundtrack for a day supping beer in the sun and The Damage tore it up in the evening with Exponents guitarist and Tahi local, Brian Jones joining them for two Exponents songs and then former Tahi bartender Tian Carr made his stage debut with Mum and Dad and did a stonking rendition of Dire Straits Romeo & Juliet.
We were honoured to have some of the areas best alcohol producers join us for the Day. Local legend and feijoa orchard owner Dale from Lothlorien, San Whitmore from Zeffer Cider, Soren and Monique Eriksen from 8 Wired, Mike Sutherland from Sawmill Brewing and they were joined by Tuatara Co-owner and head brewer Carl Vasta from The Kapiti Coast. What a line up. We had 13 beers, 2 ciders and the Lothlorien tasting tent...No wonder we were full.
More of the same next year but even better.
Tahi and THE Guide Book
Everyone at Tahi Bar is cock-a-hoop at our inclusion in the 2015 Lonely Planet guide to New Zealand. It is something we have aspired to from the very day we thought of opening a bar like ours. Having travelled with the aid of Lonely Planet guide books around the world we acknowledge their worth. To have them say that Tahi is an "exceptionally friendly spot" was the best pat on the back we could possibly get!
So you may have noticed a new face in the Kitchen. That would be Justin Marshall...no not the All Black but our new kitchen whizz, so say G'day. Look forward to some overdue menu changes in the future with summer on the horizon.
